Here are some colorful pictures of the market places where we buy bulk veggies, potatoes, beans and fruits for the teams that we host as well as for the soup kitchen. After you purchase a large sack of items you pay a human carrier to strap your sack on their back and carry it to your vehicle. It is quite impressive to watch a tiny Ecuadorian woman strap your 100 lb sack to her back and carry it as if it weighed nothing! I'm sure this also accounts for the early onset of arthritis and back deformities. We don't buy our meat at the markets (we aren't that brave) but wanted to include a picture of that as well. They sell everything from cow hooves to pig skin, cow stomach lining, live chickens, rabbits, goats and guinea pigs. It is quite an experience but not for those who don't like to be around a lot of people.

I'm not worried about the other critters, but can I send you money to set the live rabbits free? By the way, how is the dog? He hasn't made a blog appearance in some time. Don't let him go to the market!
Yummm!!! The fresh fruit and veggies look just awesome! And - I have to agree with the robinson family - we'd love to hear more about the little puppy! :)
Wow what a market!!! Those veggies look great however I think Ill take a rain check on the meat.I didn't see any ice under those trays of meat. What a culture experience that must be. A little different from our way of shopping for food.Cant wait to experience the many different ways of life their. We miss you both!!! Love Mom & Dad G
Hi Greg and Amy,
Your pics are great and it has been fun keeping up with your adventure in Ecuador. I think I would become a vegetarian with all those great fruits and vegies!! Especially knowing the alternative (guinea) :) I'm sure you are both feeling great fulfillment with what you are doing, keep up the great work.
Love Aunt Laura
We agree - those pictures of the fruit look wonderful - what a great fruit salad you can make! We'll also pass on the meat sections (and glad you do too) These pictures are so colorful - love seeing the facial expressions on the woman and children there. Don't see many men though - Anyway, happy eating! (and cooking this week) Love, Mom & Dad
